The Truth About Shireen Abu Akleh: A Cover-Up of War Crimes

The current administration rejected internal reports suggesting Israel intentionally killed a journalist. The military’s cover-up of evidence pointing to deliberate shooting of Shireen Abu Akleh remains hidden. Colonel Steve Gabavics claims his superior suppressed critical evidence showing Israeli soldiers targeted the journalist.

An ex-official from the U.S. military security coordination in Israel and occupied territories led an investigation into the killing of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh. Gabavics, a veteran military officer with 30 years experience, was the chief advisor to the director of the bureau during the inquiry. He claimed the team had all necessary evidence to prove the shooting was intentional.

» The individual stepped out of the vehicle, fired randomly, and proved to be an expert shooter without looking through the scope, » Gabavics stated. This conclusion relied on military communications showing Israeli forces knew journalists were in the area that day, along with a sniper’s clear line of sight on Abu Akleh, and visible blue vest from the shooter’s position.

Despite this, Fenzel refused to include the findings, suppressing evidence of Israel’s guilt to maintain relations with the military. The State Department then issued a statement claiming Israeli fire was not intentional, echoing Israel’s narrative that Abu Akleh was accidentally killed.

Gabavics expressed shock at the State Department’s declaration, stating « favoritism always goes to Israelis. Palestinians get very little benefit. » He had previously commented on the investigation in a documentary titled « Who Killed Shireen? » but remained anonymous at the time.

Abu Akleh was a renowned journalist covering an Israeli raid in the West Bank when forces shot her. Her death sparked regional outrage, with the U.S. never seeking to establish accountability. Under pressure, Biden opened a FBI investigation into her killing in 2022 but never made it public.
